Where to check out your waste carrier credentials

When you have your commercial or industrial waste removed are you sure that the waste carrier is registered and your responsibilities ?

DIRECTIVE 2008/98/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT refers.

The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations makes reference that waste streams should be removed by registered waste carriers and the waste taken to suitably licenced waste recycling / disposal sites.

The hierarchy of waste should be considered , implemented and recorded on the waste transfer note, the hierarchy being :

(a) prevention; (b) preparing for re-use; (c) recycling; (d) other recovery (for example energy recovery); (e) disposal.

From 1 January 2015, waste collection authorities must collect waste paper, metal, plastic and glass separately. It also imposes a duty on waste collection authorities, from that date, when making arrangements for the collection of such waste, to ensure that those arrangements are by way of separate collection.
